One year of devotion

-Do you believe in Satan?  -What really matters is that He believes in us 

Today Ghost Colombia gets one year old spreading the Ghostic gospel . Although during its first months this page had a lone member, thanks to Ghost, you began to arrive. The purpose has been clear from day one: to promote, publicize to the people of our country (and elsewhere)  one of the best bands in the current music scene. Hence the need to accompany this page with a blog in which Spanish speakers could access all the information of the band in our language, respecting Ghost's concept.

It was a pact in which we accepted our part, our condition of devotées called to convene as many people as we can in order for them to hear the message of the representatives of Satan on earth. What Ghost has proposed, to all their children, as they call us, is that we focus on their show, on their music, their lyrics, their message and not on the messengers, for that reason, we reverence the anonymity of the sect as one of the commandments to fulfill. There are different ways to experience Ghost. Some people are desperately seeking to reveal the identities of its members, but what they want is that we find out the depth of their words, of their codes. That is the real game, is a game of reading, inference,  irony and interpretation that many have reduced to the narrowness of discovering the face behind the mask without looking at the masks that cover our own existence. A Ghoul in an interview said that they are our mirror, their lyrics do not take us but bring us back to the world, to the permanent Apocalipse in which humanity lives, to the Hell where we all, inevitably, will go , to the unconsciousness of our own actions and words, to the distortion of the perversion, and the diabolical  conception that has been focused on women, witches and the devil. The parody is not them, it's us and the rigid schemes that we accept without delay.

Moreover, we find in music a sublime elaboration that draws from a wide range of expressions, from polyphonic liturgical singing, to classical music, psychedelic rock from the 70's, metal, pop, and why not , punk, resulting in an organic and perfect symbiosis. On the other hand, we enjoy the ability to shock that frames their proposal. Some say the image is not the same with music, that Papa's voice does not fit with the instrumental part, that the lyrics do not go in line with the music, that Latin and pop or rock  do not match ... some metalheads say it is not metal, some black metal lovers believe that the sweet rhythms sound ridiculous, pop fans enjoy the melodies but have trouble accepting much Satanism ... but in the end, a large percentage finishes chanting the catchy melodies and that is the goal, besides, there lies the smart point of their proposal.

Finally, we value the fact that they have returned us to the sacred in a deconsecrated world , the ritual in a world and in a context in which the ritual is almost gone. They have reminded us that mysticism is an essential part of the musical work and that is priceless. We thank all the members of Ghost Colombia for opening this door and the people who make up this team. We also want to extend our gratitude to our beloved witches of The Coven for their unconditional support and help!

We will continue to grow as Ghost will and we hope, trusting Satan, that Papa Emeritus II and the Nameless Ghouls visit these satanic lands. We will welcome them with the reverence their majesty deserves.

We conclude with some words from our Ghouls: "You can choose as a part taker, being a member of the crowd, if you wanna take it literally or if you wanna go deeper and there´s a little bit of everything, there are always two sides in every lyric in the songs in the concept itself".

Ghost Colombia cumple hoy un año de difusión del evangelio Ghostico. Aunque durante sus primeros meses esta página tuvo un solitario miembro, gracias a Ghost, ustedes comenzaron a llegar. El propósito ha sido claro desde el día uno: impulsar, dar a conocer a la gente de nuestro país (y de otras latitudes) a una de las mejores bandas de la escena musical actual. De ahí la necesidad de acompañar esta página de un blog en el que los hispano-hablantes pudieran tener acceso a toda la información de la banda en nuestro idioma respetando su concepto.

Ha sido un pacto en el que hemos aceptado nuestra parte, nuestra condición de devotos llamados a convocar a tanta gente como podamos con el fin de que escuchen el mensaje de los representantes de Satanás en la tierra. Lo que Ghost nos ha propuesto, a todos sus hijos, como ellos mismos nos llaman, es que nos centremos en su puesta en escena, en su música, en sus letras, en su mensaje y no en los mensajeros, por tal motivo, reverenciamos el anonimato de la secta como uno de los mandamientos a cumplir. Hay diferentes maneras de vivir la experiencia Ghost. Algunos buscan con desesperación develar las identidades de sus miembros, pero lo que ellos quieren es que develemos la profundidad de sus palabras, de sus códigos. Ese es el verdadero juego, es un juego de lectura, inferencia, ironía e interpretación que muchos han reducido a la estrechez de descubrir la cara detrás de la máscara sin fijarse en las máscaras que recubren nuestra propia existencia. En una entrevista el Ghoul decía que ellos son nuestro espejo, sus letras no nos llevan sino que nos traen al mundo, al Apocalipsis permanente en el que la humanidad vive, al Infierno al que todos vamos indefectiblemente, a la inconsciencia de nuestros propios actos y palabras, a la tergiversación de la perversión y lo diabólico centrado en la mujer, la bruja y el demonio. La parodia no son ellos, somos nosotros y los rígidos esquemas que aceptamos sin dilación.

Por otra parte, hallamos en la música una elaboración sublime que se nutre de una amplia gama de expresiones, desde los cantos polifónicos litúrgicos, pasando por la música clásica, el rock psicodélico de los 70’s, el metal, el pop, y por qué no, el punk, que resulta en una simbiosis orgánica, perfecta. Por otro lado, disfrutamos de la capacidad de choque que enmarca su propuesta. Algunos dicen que la imagen no es equivalente con la música, que la voz de Papa no encuadra con la parte instrumental, que las letras no van en consonancia con la música, que el latín y el rock o el pop no coinciden…algunos metaleros dicen que no es metal, algunos amantes del black metal opinan que los ritmos dulces suenan ridículos, los fanáticos del pop disfrutan las melodías pero les cuesta aceptar tanto satanismo… pero al final, un gran porcentaje termina coreando las pegajosas melodías y ese es el objetivo, además, allí radica lo inteligente de su propuesta.

Para finalizar, valoramos el que nos hayan retornado a lo sacro en un mundo desacralizado, al ritual en un mundo y en un contexto en donde lo ritual casi ha desaparecido. Nos han recordado que la mística es parte fundamental del quehacer musical y eso no tiene precio en este mundo. Agradecemos a todos los miembros de Ghost Colombia por abrir esta puerta y a las personas que conforman este equipo de trabajo. Seguiremos creciendo en la medida en que Ghost lo haga y esperamos, confiando en Satanás, que Papa Emeritus II y los Nameless Ghouls visiten estas satánicas tierras. Los recibiremos con la reverencia que su majestad merece.

Concluimos con unas palabras de nuestros Ghouls: “Usted puede elegir, como parte aceptante, al ser un miembro de la multitud, si quiere tomarlo literalmente o si quiere ir un tanto más profundo y hay un poco de todo, siempre hay dos lados en cada letra de las canciones, en el concepto mismo (de Ghost)”.
